*****BKBF Mussels Festival 26 February *****

Dear Members of the BKBF, Dear Friends,

BKBF is glad to invite you to the traditional Mussels Festival on Sunday 26 February from 5.30 pm.  This year again we will have the pleasure to enjoy Patrick Asselborn’s secret recipe for Belgian Mussels at Vera Hannam, Passion 5 bldg 3 F, 272 Itaewon-
ro, Yongsan-gu. All the practical details as well as the menu are included below.

Please be aware that this is a fixed menu; we will try to accommodate special requests if they are mentioned to us in advance. A special menu (with no mussels) is also proposed for children under 12.

*****Solvay opens a new Silica plant in Gunsan November 2 *****

On November 2,  2016, Solvay opened its new silica plant in Gunsan, Jeollabukdo Province. The ceremony took place in Gunsan in the presence of Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, CEO of Solvay, the Vice-Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Mr Man Ki Jeong, the representatives of Jeollabukdo province  and Gunsan City last but not least H. E Adrien Theatre, the Ambassador of Belgium.

*****BKBF Annual BARBECUE 25 September*****

We are very grateful to the Ambassador of Belgium, Mr Theatre and his family who honoured BKBF with their presence to our annual BBQ. We further would like to thank all the participants for their strong attendance which made our event a success.  Special thanks to Jed for the delicious meat and his supervision of the BBQ and Daega Farm for their beautiful premises!

An exhibition produced by the Belgian Comic Strip Center (www.comicscenter.net)
“Lighthouses of Belgian Comics” displays reproductions of book covers from famous Belgian comic-albums.
 
Comics are a true art form in Belgium. Most families have a library with comic-albums. More than half of the books edited or produced in Belgium are comics. Thousands of illustrators and storytellers turned Belgium into the Kingdom of Comics.
From 5 to 11 October 2016

Dr Bae Hyeon Jeong came from Belgium to Korea 45 years ago.

Her Belgian name is Marie-Hélène Brasseur.

While working as a nurse in the slums of Seoul, she studied medicine in Korean and became a doctor.
She created the Jeon.Jin.Sang Clinic which provides family health care to poor neighborhoods.

The clinic also has a center for palliative Care (www.jeonjinsang.or.kr).

Dr. Bae Hyeon Jeong will talk about her life and work in Korea.
